Therapy & Counselling

I didn’t take the straight path to get here and I think that’s what makes my work better.

I’m not a ‘blank slate’ therapist.

I’m very human. My face moves, I say the wrong thing sometimes , I swear and laugh and I am a really good Therapist.

I’ve experienced my own therapy journey to get me here, it was hard and messy but it taught me a lot and I use my life experiences now to support you in a safe and therapeutic way.

Therapy can be all about doing and changing but it is also a place of profound being, and in the non-stop horror show that is the world right now, Having somewhere you can exhale can be all we need.

Showing up as you are, without expectation or judgment and without the many masks we wear day to day, It can be uncomfortable at first but it is always worth it.

I’m not going to bullshit you into thinking i’m a magician or some all powerful mind guru- Im just a person who’s experienced some things and learned from those things. I have trained hard and continue that development every day and I wont ever take the trust my clients place in me for granted. If you are searching for inclusive, accessible and very human therapy- reach out for an initial call and see if i’m the right fit for you.

A Glimpse into the practice

At The Hælan Space, how we work is just as important as the work itself. The values below aren’t aspirational statements — they’re woven into every session, every interaction, and every decision we make about how this space is run. Tap on an item below to learn more.

We recognise that the systems and structures people move through every day — racism, sexism, ableism, homophobia, class inequality, and more — are not separate from mental health. They shape it. Our practitioners are committed to ongoing learning and reflection around power, privilege, and oppression, and to holding space that actively challenges harm rather than simply tolerating difference. We will never ask you to leave your identity, your history, or your politics at the door.

We understand that many people who come to us carry experiences that have shaped how they feel, how they relate to others, and how safe the world feels. Every aspect of how we work — the pace of sessions, the language we use, the choices we offer — is guided by an awareness of trauma and its impact. You will never be pushed beyond what feels safe, and you will always be in the driving seat of your own process.

We celebrate neurological difference and actively welcome autistic people, ADHDers, and anyone whose brain works in ways that don’t fit the conventional mould. Our therapists adapt their approach to suit how you communicate and process, rather than expecting you to fit a standard therapeutic format. If there’s something that would make sessions more comfortable or accessible for you — whether that’s a different structure, movement during sessions, written communication, or anything else — just tell us and we’ll work with you.

All bodies are welcome here, without qualification. We work from a Health at Every Size perspective and do not make assumptions about health, ability, or wellbeing based on appearance. Whether you’re navigating chronic illness, disability, body image, or simply the experience of living in a body in a world that often makes that hard, you will find no judgement here — only curiosity, respect, and care.

The Hælan Space is an explicitly affirming space for lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer, intersex, and asexual people, and everyone across the full spectrum of gender and sexuality. Our therapists don’t just tolerate LGBTQIA+ identities — we celebrate them. You won’t be asked to justify who you are, educate your therapist on your experience, or navigate assumptions about your relationships or your body. You can simply be yourself.

We don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to healing. Our practitioners draw on a wide range of modalities — from talking therapy to somatic work, therapeutic writing to movement — and work collaboratively with you to find what fits. Therapy here is a partnership. Your instincts about what you need matter, and we’ll follow your lead.

We believe cost should never be the reason someone can’t access support. That’s why we offer a sliding scale of fees from £40 to £80 per session — pay what you genuinely can, without guilt in either direction.

We also operate a pay it forward model. If you’re able to pay at the higher end of the scale, you’re helping to fund lower-cost places for people who need them. Every session booked at full rate makes it possible for someone else to access therapy who otherwise couldn’t. Together, we make this space more equitable for everyone.

If you’re unsure what you can afford, just reach out — we’ll always try to find a way.
